AERATION 

The SAR Aerator is the most advanced and effective aerator available. SAR Aeration Reactors produce nano and micro size bubbles consistently and more efficiently than traditional aeration devices. 

While there are many types of aeration devices on the market, the entire industry is in agreement that Aeration/Flotation efficiency increases directly in proportion with the size and consistency of the bubbles produced. The smaller the bubbles, the more efficiently oxygen transfer occurs. The SAR Aerator not only produces nano sized bubbles, it is able to immediately inject them into the liquid before they coalesce into larger bubbles. 

The SAR Aerator is able to fully oxygenate water in one pass, while operating at high throughput. 

The addition of large amounts of oxygen compliments the water’s natural ability to reduce BOD and feed the natural bacteria. 

FLOCULATION 

Flocculation is the floating of various or specific particles in a liquid. Many particles naturally float and will float more easily when air or bubbles are added to the liquid, while other particles require chemicals or reagents to encourage certain particles in a liquid or slurry float.


APPLICATIONS


The SAR Aerator has a wide range of applications.

  • The SAR Aerator is exceptional at distributing air to fully oxygenate a liquid or slurry at a rapid rate and low cost.
  • The SAR Aerator can be used in any application where air is required to be added to water or a liquid.
  • The SAR Aerator can be used to inject oxygen or other aerosols into a liquid or slurry.

POND AERATION

Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) is the amount of dissolved oxygen needed by aerobic biological organisms to break down organic material present in a given water sample at certain temperature over a specific time period. Simply, it is the amount of oxygen required to sustain a water body’s natural environment. The SAR Aerator reduces the BOD by increasing the amount of oxygen into the water, allowing the natural bacteria, organisms, plant or fish life to flourish.



The SAR Aerator will enhance a ponds natural ability to sustain itself and promote fish and plant life resulting in:

 Improved water quality

Odor reduction or elimination

BIO REMEDIATION

Bacteria and Microbes are now commonly engineered and produced to eat various hydrocarbons. These bacteria are only effective if they have food and oxygen and will not typically have success in an anaerobic environment.

The SAR Aerator is excellent in the distribution and oxygenation of bacteria. The bacteria are added directly into the unit, which provides for immediate oxygenation and even distribution across the water body. In certain applications, a “froth cap” is created when bacteria are oxygenated and distributed over the pond.



MUSHROOM FARMING

The SAR Aerator is used in various mushroom farms. Notably, it has improved water quality as well as crop yield. When added to the organics that the mushrooms are grown in, it greatly reduced the odor associated with the wastewater ponds for the benefit of the plant and neighbors. It also reduced or eliminated municipal fines associated with odors in the community

WASTEWATER TREATMENT

The SAR Aerator can be used in conjunction with other water treatment systems to improve or clean municipal water. Aeration is a key process in many water treatment systems. The SAR Aerator will immediately oxygenate water in one pass, allowing the biological aspect or a treatment system to work at optimal ability. The SAR Aerator was developed from its original design as a high throughput flotation cell. The SAR Aerator can be retrofitted into existing catchment tanks to be used to float particles in a liquid. This can be used as a process in itself or in combination to improve the efficiency of other systems such as DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) cells.

ADVANTAGES


IMMEDIATE AERATION

The SAR Air Reactor internally disperses air immediately, reaching up to 130% of oxygenation due to the nano and microbubble contact with the liquid occurring in the SAR Aerator. Full aeration is achieved in one pass through the SAR Unit.

HIGH VOLUME

SAR Aerators achieve high throughput as the liquid / slurry is fully aerated, passing through the aerator in fractions of a second. Units are available in sizes of 100, 250, 300, 500, 750 and 2000 gpm. Units are banked and manifolded in order to achieve higher capacities.


Due to the high volume achieved by a single aerator, multiple traditional “splasher” style aerators can be replaced with one SAR Aerator

COST SAVING

The SAR Aerator requires very low input pressures of liquid / slurry and air while achieving high throughput capacity. In many cases the slurry, with sufficient head available, can be gravity fed eliminating the need of pumps. End users commonly reduce horsepower requirements by up to 80%. 

Due to the small size of the SAR Aerator, it requires a minimal footprint and can be easily retrofitted. 

DISTRIBUTION

Immediate and consistent oxygenation is achieved while being distributed throughout pond/ lagoon. By placing the supply pump at a distance from the Aerator, circulation throughout the pond /lagoon. The Aerator is highly effective in the dispersion of reagents within the reactor. Bacteria, nutrients, aerosols and reagents are finely and effectively dispersed equally and instantly throughout the liquid being treated and subsequently dispersed in the pond/lagoon. A current can be created by placement of the pump at varios areas of the water body with the effluent at a separate location to improve overall dispersion


EASE OF OPERATION

SAR Aerators have no moving parts and require very little maintenance. It is made from stainless steel and high density polyurethane to avoid contamination, corrosion and abrasion. The Aerators require little operator training and can also be monitored remotely using wireless communication systems.

SAFETY

As the SAR Aerator has no moving parts, there is no risk to the public or operators of getting appendages or clothing caught in any part of the reactor.

The Aerator is shore mounted in applications such as settling, tailings or fish ponds, reducing or eliminating the need for boats or other equipment to perform maintenance.

The SAR Aerator will not impact ice thickness of ponds providing winter safety for the operator or general public.

ODOR CONTROL

The SAR Aerator eliminates VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds). This reduction results in the reduction or elimination of odors associated with a variety of waste waters. This is accomplished by eliminating anaerobic conditions and often creates a “froth cap” over the entire pond/lagoon. This has the obvious affect of creating a more pleasant smelling environment and has also resulted in the avoidance of municipal fines, and negative community impact.

WIDE RANGE OF APPLICATIONS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

The SAR Air Reactor has applications in 3 major areas: All Aeration applications, Flotation/Flocculation and Bio-Remediation. It performs in adverse, hazardous or corrosive conditions, such as:

• Oxygenation of Liquid / Slurry of very low to very high pH levels
• Very cold temperatures such as preventing winter kill in fish lagoons to high temperatures applications hot countries.

 AESTHETICS

The SAR Aerator is quiet and does not cause large amounts of splashing or disturbance, thereby being less intrusive to the general public. The noise emitted is only as loud as the blower producing the air and the effluent from the aerator is similar to that of a common hose.


COMPATIBILITY

The SAR Aerator can be used in conjunction with other systems in order to improve overall plant efficiencies, such as;

A Gas stripper in off-gassing VOCs.

Placed in advance of DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) flotation cells to increase DAF efficiency, for flotation and flocculation in areas where fine particle separation or hydrocarbon flotation is the goal.

The Air Reactor can be assembled with a catchment basin or retrofitted onto existing flotation cells.
